Client Experience

Client Experience

We provide solutions across health care, giving us a big-picture view of the industry’s challenges. Being able to see more inherently lets us solve more of your biggest challenges—efficiently, effectively and with significant results.

Here are just a few examples of how we’ve partnered with clients to improve their performance and help transform the industry.

Insurer and Health Plan:

We helped a Fortune 50 payer develop a customer service strategy that drove $11.6 million to the bottom line through reductions in inbound calls, training costs and average handle time, as well as increases in cross selling, agent productivity and call quality.

We helped launch one of the nation’s largest MA and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP).  Over the past five years, the plan’s annual revenue grew from $700 million to more than $5 billion, while its membership topped one million.

Hospital and Physician:

We implemented a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for a large hospital to computerize their provider order entry, enhance patient safety and improve their revenue cycle. Since implementation, nearly 11 million legacy patient records have been imported to the new system and more than 580 providers and 2700 clinical users have been trained.

We partnered with a university health system to reduce the overhead associated with no-show appointments, maximize provider face-to-face time with patients and increase appointment utilization. Leveraging our statistical reports, we provided easy-to-run scheduling and analytics reports. This allows them to address high no-shows and cancellation rates, as well as proactively structure appointments.

Employer:

We partnered with an organization to create a data warehouse that could manage the ongoing collection of data from over 80 vendors, enabling them to target employees for wellness activities. This system serves as a state-of-the-art approach to health management ROI evaluation.

We designed and produced a comprehensive analysis of a nationwide employer’s care management programs across two primary vendors. The analysis used sophisticated matching methodology that supported valid comparisons of program participants to nonparticipants. Our data warehouse methodologies impressed the client and significantly outperformed those presented by competitors.

Public Sector:

CMS tasked The Lewin Group with developing a method, based on systematic random sampling, to infer a payment error rate for Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP. We successfully developed the CERT program, now the primary method for estimating payment errors for Medicare, and the PERM program, now the primary method for estimating payment errors in Medicaid and CHIP. Both programs consistently pass scrutiny from OIG, OMB and outside auditors.

The Lewin Group provides expert technical assistance to assist state and local organizations design and implement the Administration on Aging’s (AoA’s) newest innovation grants. This includes everything from developing “user driven” plans to creating an online TA Tracking Tool to planning national conferences. Through this work, Lewin has compiled a state level database that houses key information about State's LTC systems and policies.
