Initial Enrollment Results During Medicare Advantage Annual Election Period Show Mixed Results for Health Plans

— Medicare Advantage plans did fairly well in the initial enrollment figures, released by CMS Jan. 15, reflecting the Annual Election Period (AEP) for 2010. But the figures need to be taken with several grains of salt, since they go through only Dec. 11 and because there were specific unusual situations accounting for some of the changes, particularly where MA enrollment declined, observers say.
